The Department of Emergency Medicine is seeking Royal College, CCFP-EM, or CCFP locums to fill various scheduling gaps.


The Timmins and District Hospital is a 225-bed district hospital serving a local population of 41,000 and a catchment area of 110,000. Timmins is located in Northeastern Ontario and is a fully accredited referral and teaching hospital that offers a full range of Medical, Surgical, Critical Care, Maternal/Child, Long Term Care, and Mental Health Services.


Details of Emergency Medicine work:

The Emergency Department at the Timmins and District Hospital sees an average of 100-120 patients per day (40,000 visits annually). As a district hospital serving a catchment area of 110,000, we offer a comprehensive community practice with access to most major specialties and imaging modalities such as MRI, CT, and Nuclear Medicine.


The ED is staffed up to 5 shifts per day with double coverage for 16-18 hours per day. Locums are provided with a fair mix of shifts. Number of locum days per visit is negotiable.


Remuneration:

Competitive compensation is a combination of an hourly wage of $140-$210/hour plus 37.5% of billings.


Your traveling expenses of airfare and/or mileage, local car rental, and accommodations will be covered through the Northern Specialist Locum Program.


Position Requirements

Candidates must:

  • have Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada certification in Emergency Medicine, CCFP-EM (preferred), or CCFP.
  • be licensed to practice as an Emergency Physician (or Family Physician) in the Province of Ontario.
  • have (or be eligible for) certification in ACLS or ATLS.
  • have Canadian Medical Protective Associate (CMPA) coverage.
  • have excellent clinical skills.
  • have a commitment to patient safety and high standards of care.
